The Witcher 4 team keeps getting bigger

CD Projekt has nearly 500 developers working on The Witcher 4, making it the studio’s biggest project by a wide margin. The company said 933 developers now work across CD Projekt Red, with 499 assigned to The Witcher 4.

That surge comes after more than 220 developers joined the company over the past year. Joint CEO Michał Nowakowski said most of those new hires are working on The Witcher 4, helping the team improve quality and expand the tech shown in the project’s earlier Unreal Fest demo.

“Steaming ahead” after the tech demo

Chief financial officer Piotr Nielubowicz said production of The Witcher 4 is “steaming ahead.” That lines up with CD Projekt’s broader spending plans. The company’s FY2025 results say it invested more than 513 million PLN into future releases, focused mainly on The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2.

There is still an important caveat here. The Unreal Fest showcase was not actual gameplay, and CD Projekt previously stressed it was a technology demo rather than a direct slice of the final game.

CD Projekt’s priorities are clear

The bigger picture is simple: The Witcher 4 is CD Projekt’s main internal focus right now.

A few key takeaways:

  • 499 developers are on The Witcher 4
  • 933 developers are employed across CD Projekt Red
  • 220-plus hires joined in the past year
  • CD Projekt says 2025 was its second-best year ever for net earnings
  • The company also confirmed work has started on its new IP, Hadar

For fans, the headline is straightforward. CD Projekt is putting more people, more money, and more momentum behind The Witcher 4 than any other game before.
